Dr. Mering has over 20 years’ experience in the area of laboratory animal science, especially animal welfare. She received her Ph.D. in Applied Zoology from the University of Eastern Finland.

Dr. Mering has broad regulatory expertise and serves as member on both the National Experimental Animal Board and the National Committee of the Council on the Protection of Animals Used for Scientific or Educational purposes. She has an excellent track-record in educating and training scientists at all levels in the use and care of laboratory animals. Dr. Mering will continue to serve as Chairperson of the Finnish Laboratory Animal Science Association (FinLAS).
