The neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses (NCL), also known as Batten disease, are the most common group of neurodegenerative diseases among children. In the recently published study co-authored by Experimentica Ltd., the retinopathy of CLN5 disease is thoroughly described in the mouse model.

The findings suggest that vision loss in CLN5 deficient mice is primarily caused by pathological events in the RPE-rod photoreceptor interface leading to subsequent loss of rods.
