Our expertise
Optomotor Reflex
At Experimentica, we provide advanced behavioral assessment and optomotor response (OMR) testing to evaluate visual acuity (VA) and contrast sensitivity (CS) in rodent models. Utilizing the state-of-the-art OptoDrum system (Striatech GmbH, Germany), this non-invasive, automated method enables precise measurement of visual thresholds by observing the optomotor response to moving visual stimuli, ensuring objective and reliable assessment of VA and CS.
OMR testing is conducted under both photopic and scotopic conditions, allowing researchers to evaluate visual performance across a wide range of environmental settings. The system allows for testing of both eyes separately, for example enabling the assessment of the induced eye for test article functionality, while the contralateral eye can serve as a control, providing a comparative analysis of the effects on visual function.
OMR testing is suitable for various research applications, including pharmacology, efficacy, gene therapy, and toxicology studies, providing valuable insights into how treatments impact vision. OMR testing is an efficient and accurate tool for preclinical visual function analysis, helping accelerate drug development and ocular disease research.

Scientific excellence in every model
Non-Invasive
The optomotor response (OMR) test is a non-invasive method that reduces animal stress, ensuring reliable and reproducible results without the need for anesthesia or surgery, making it an ethical choice for preclinical studies.
Comprehensive Visual Function Assessment
The OMR test evaluates visual acuity and contrast sensitivity under both scotopic and photopic conditions, providing a thorough assessment of visual function essential for studying ocular diseases and therapies.
Unbiased Assessment
Using the OptoDrum system (Striatech GmbH, Germany), the OMR test delivers precise, objective data, ensuring accuracy in visual performance assessments.
